What’s a Site Assessment?
It’s the first step toward powering your home with a solar and battery system.
Your Site Assessment is a key part of your Zelora journey. One of our solar and battery Installers will visit your home to check everything’s ready for a smooth and safe installation.
🔍 What Happens During the Visit?
Your Installer will:
- Assess your roof and take photos
- Inspect your main switchboard
- Identify the best locations for your solar panels, inverter, and battery
- Plan the cable route and wiring
- Check access points and equipment needs for installation day
- Discuss battery backup options (if you’d like power during blackouts)
- They’ll send a detailed report to our Engineering team, who’ll use it to finalise your system design.
- If any pre-works (like minor electrical upgrades) are needed, we’ll let you know.
🏡 Do I Need to Be Home?
Yes, you’ll need to be there to give your Installer access. It’s also a great chance to walk them through your switchboard location and any preferred battery spots. While your Installer will follow Australian Standards when it comes to battery location, your input is always welcome.
📐 What Happens After the Assessment?
Once the report is in, we’ll:
- Finalise your Zelora system design
- Share your design and quote
- Let you know if any pre-works are needed before installation
- We’ll guide you through every step and we're always here to help
🔋 Can I Choose Where My Battery Goes?
Usually, your battery will be installed near your inverter. Your Installer will make sure the location meets all safety standards, but they’ll also take your preferences into account.
Want to plan ahead? Check out our Battery Location Guide.
🧱 Does the Battery Need to Be on a Wall?
Not always. Batteries can be wall-mounted or floor-mounted depending on your setup and the battery model. Your Installer will walk you through the best option for your home.
🌦️ Can the Battery Go Outside?
Yes. All Zelora batteries are rated for outdoor installation.
🚗 What If I Have an EV?
Your battery doesn’t need to be next to your EV charger. As long as your charger connects to your switchboard, your Solar & Battery System can help power your car—even if they’re in different parts of your home.
🧱 What if my Roof is Tiled?
If you have a tiled roof, you will need to have spare tiles ready on installation day. Your Installer will let you know how many, based on your roof type.
